Objectives
Near-Term
To improve the visibility and safety of the bicycling community in Howard County. Activities: Since the majority of our organizations’ members are recreational and sport bicyclists our initial objectives are concerned with road improvements for many of the roads we all ride on primarily in the Columbia, Ellicott City, Dayton, Glenelg, and Glenwood areas. Our near-term-focus is Homewood, Folly Quarter, Triadelphia and Carrs Mill Roads.
MID-TERm
To foster and support bicycle commuting as an alternative to automobiles within Howard County for both work and school transportation. Activities: We will support the annual Baltimore Metropolitan Council Bike To Work Day event in Howard County through our clubs, employers and schools. In addition, BAHC, through a partnership agreement with HC Public Schools will assist in developing youth bike safety training
FAR-term
To promote a vision of bicycling as part of an energy efficient transportation means to achieving a sustainable future for Howard County.
Activities: Public relations efforts in local newspapers and media, as well as participation in public meetings to educate non-bicyclists on the benefits of bicycling.
